At Mount Martha Optical we have invested in the latest technology and digital imaging equipment to better examine the health of your eyes. This also enables us to keep a photographic record and better assess any changes to your eyes over time. A retinal camera photographs the surface of the retina and gives us a wonderful overview of the retina, blood vessels and macula.
For even more detail, Ocular Coherence Tomography can also be performed. This uses infrared scanning to image down through the layers of the retina so we can see in much more detail macula changes, loss of nerve fibres due to glaucoma and any retinal oedema associated with diabetic eye disease.
A digital camera on the slit lamp allows us to photograph changes to the front surface of the eyes such as lid lesions, pterygium and cataracts.
